(8,879 posts)Much like I am not more in favor of the death penalty because a murderer's actions are more unconscionably horrible than other murderers, I am unmoved to measure a man's liberal leanings based on republicans act.
Moral relativism is shitty philosophy.
By that same token, because I can't name a single republican to the left of the President does not make the president a populist liberal I can believe in.
He has shown himself time and time again to be of the mind that corporations come before people, my friend. Maybe that's too harsh a statement. How about this - he acts in a way that show me he feels the best way to attack people's problems is through the framework of corporate gain.
I can hear the continuing drip drop of trickle down theory getting louder and louder all the time.
I am not a bluedog like the president. I thought I was voting for a liberal. Period. I did not realize I was voting for a Reagan democrat. Well I guess I kind of knew, but not during the first primary.
Now that he is on his way out, I am finding myself wholly unconcerned for his legacy.
I thank him for slowing the flow toward tea party insanity, but my main concern now is making sure the next president is actually a liberal . . . a bleeding heart, welfare-state, socialist leaning liberal.
