(51,526 posts)and so is America in many ways. You would think that Americans might come together to at least support some common interests like jobs, infrastructure, healthcare, or even the gun background checks and mental health, but no. Our Democrats have stood strong in the face of unprecedented opposition and sabotage from the other party on every single thing.
We need more Democrats in office, not less. And more liberals, not less. You simply can't punish your way into single payer. You can't punish away the NSA or the drone program or anything else you're against. The best you can do is elect more of the type of representatives who represent your values. Or run for office yourself. That's how America works. You don't ever have to vote for Obama ever again. He's not running.
Scalia and Thomas are old as shit. When America needs a new supreme court justice, we better have enough Dems in office to confirm Obama's liberal nominee. One more vote makes a world of difference on so many mission critical issues like citizens united type stuff. Do you want to be the whiny little loser who kept a liberal from joining the supreme court? How about liberal legislation and amendments to improve the PPACA? How about God willing when the day comes when the public option finally reaches the floor for a vote? Vermont exists, it will happen sooner than you think.
When that day comes when groundbreaking liberal reforms from a liberal state have a fighting chance of going nation-wide, do you want to be the reason the Republicans still hold Congress?
Dems fail badly at PR. They need people talking about the positive stuff during an election year, not as much complaining. Call up your rep and complain and demand more liberal action and in return you donate and canvass and register voters.
GOTV!
