(14,180 posts)13. For me, I think it was his smugness and calculated attitude.
I know that isn't fair, this is all very subjective, and I recognize that he is an incredibly intelligent person, but I never got the sense that Arthur respected either the show or the other contestants. It was like he was gaming the system and it irked. Arrogant people really, really put me off.
I think what differentiates him (and a lot of other long-winning contestants) from Julia is, I don't get the sense of entitlement and cockiness in Julia that a lot of them seem to take on the longer they're on the show. That's why I didn't shed any tears the night Arthur went down big, and why I don't mind her winning streak -- she is very grounded and seems grateful for her run.
Of course, YMMV.
