I would not buy the incompetence thing, which is often used as a ruse IMO.

Your suspicious is just that: merely speculation. But there is so much amiss in this case that one can not help but be cynical... and to just accept the official explanation now seems beyond foolish.

Your theory does have some legs, yet I'm not sure it will ever be provable...
