(7,822 posts)Is for the "not all men" men to stand up against these groups and attitudes. To call this shit out. To speak up and say "Dude, that's some fucked up shit!" Cause it is. And it's dangerous. And it's spreading. Especially among impressionable young men. And guess what? They ain't gonna listen to us women.
To those (many) guys who do get it? Who do call this stuff out, who don't claim feminism is what is making the world suck, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You renew my faith.
For those who spend endless hours denying there is a problem, dismissing the effects, treating every single attempt to address very real issues with cries of misandry and "But women do it too! See, no problem"... You *are* part of the problem. I'm sorry, but it's true.
Very, very few people who subscribe to these attitudes will ever even consider killing someone, but if this incident doesn't show that these are hurtful and potentially dangerous attitudes, nothing will. And IMO, they are.
