(6,257 posts)I'm sorry to hear that. That's my biggest problem with this sub-culture. It's incredibly sexist(and slightly homophobic, but I can say without a doubt it's easier for me to be a gay man in this culture than it would to be a straight woman) and honestly it makes us all look like a bunch of immature teenagers at best. As I mentioned above, and you did as well in your post, a lot of guys in the culture seem to think that whenever a women shares their interests that must mean she is automatically into them and I'm sure it's driven a lot of women to leave the culture.
It's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy in that I've heard guys say stuff like "I need a nerdy girl" or whatever and then the moment a women shows any kind of interest in comics, RPGs, board games, etc half the guys in the store start hitting on them or pulling some know-it-all bullshit. I'm just thinking "no wonder you guys can't find a women because you treat them all like objects." It's frankly disgusting.
Regardless, I've always enjoyed your posts and hopefully you'll find a gaming group that isn't full of immature assholes.
