for members of one group to ignore what other members of that group are doing, rather than calling them out on it.

For example, when some Catholic priests ignore rampant sexual abuse among their ranks because they personally didn't do it, no one would say, "Well, then, that's okay." Sometimes your silence makes you guilty.
