52. That is certainly an interesting take on things.

I can't give credit to the "men are raised to be competitive" thing. Some men are competitive, some are not. Some women are competitive, some are not. Some left handed persons are competitive, some are not. Persons raised to be complacent, or subservient are competitive, if only in their group. In the "nurture vs nature" context, competitiveness is genetic.

The various sub-cultures in our society which stress the male competitiveness meme, generally have a....questionable tradition of bigotry, racism, and outright violence. As our civilization advances we recognize that many of our long standing traditions are based in bullshit. That whole "Divine Right of Kings" and "God-Kings" crap, traditions which lasted for most of human history, gradually fell apart over the centuries. The competitiveness is a sexual characteristic is bullshit and needs to be recognized as such.

I'll go as far as to say, one of the root causes of male violence very well could be the dissonance of being trained to be competitive by your sub-culture and not having the genetic disposition to do so. Those individuals lacking the emotional or intellectual stability to deal with the reality gap of what is and what he was trained should be; could blame the one he was trained he was superior to for not playing along with the program. Thus justifying any level of violence to right the perceived wrong.






Reading this over, I think I sound pretentious. I think I'm right, but.......
