1. Probably won't get the pension

My guess is he resigned on the advice of his lawyer rather then be fired by the police department that way his being fired can't be used against him in the trial.

As for the pension, it is unlikely he completed the 20 years that is usually required for most police pensions, excluding of course pensions due to disability or injury.
