Let me tell you how much fun that was.
first, i couldn't renew online. So I went to the driver's license office. I was told that my "Citizenship" status was in question. My response was "What does my citizenship have to do with a DRIVER'S license.
Three trips later I had all the paperwork together.
1. My original birth certificate (in German) from Austria
2. The original notarized English translation thereof.
3. My State Department form stating that I am an American citizen by birth.
4. My DD-214

Even then, the person had to call in their stuporvisor, who then called in THEIR stuporvisor before it was approved.
I responded that I served in the United States Air Force with a Top Secret clearance and they didn't demand all this.
They replied, "How did you get your license then in the first place?"
I said back in 1974 when I first came to TX, I wasn't asked for all this crap just to get a DRIVER'S license.
