127. One thing I had to learn as a feminist who passes for white

is that if it's not about you, it's not about you.

I would get hit with criticisms about white feminists, and I would feel defensive. I wanted to protest that it wasn't me. I am biracial though I can pass. I was raised in a very multicultural family and saw oppression first hand. But most of the time it wasn't about me. When it was, i learned from the criticism. That urge to be defensive is a reflex that you have to let go of. If it does apply to you then it does, and hopefully you'll feel that and do the work to address whatever it is that you need to. We all have that stuff. None of us is expempt.

tl;dr- No one is lumping you in with rich people or idiots or tyrants. If it's not about you, it's not about you.
