Sterling Reportedly Has Alzheimer’s

It turns out Donald Sterling’s passive role in the sale of the L.A. Clippers has to do with more than just his racist comments about African Americans. TMZ Sports reports that Sterling has Alzheimer’s and doctors (who concluded he may have had the disease as long as five years) declared him incompetent to play a role in the sale of the team. This would be consistent with other media reports that Shelly Sterling, who is acting as sole trustee, said her husband was not capable of making the decision to sell the team. Meanwhile, ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who is buying the team for $2 billion, is said to be paying in all cash.
