(9,385 posts)It's clear that you really need one.
Besides, now the people alerting on you know that you don't have one, they'll be encouraged to step up the alerts because they know you're "a sitting duck" so to speak.
Check it out, really, it's a good idea. It's built into the system because it's meant to be used with the system. Without it, you're at a big disadvantage, and much more likely to get hides than others.
(This is for anyone who's interested, and missed the now-defunct Meta Forum where most of us who know about this learned of it)
To find it, click "My Account" at the top of the page, and then there's a tab marked "Jury Blacklist".
You want to consider several things: 1) who is likely to vote against you; 2) who is on DU a lot, available to be called most often -- that can be known by observation or indicated by the number of posts in the last 90 days, and/or the number of juries served on -- both of these numbers are found on each person's profile; 3) also on the profile, the "chance of serving on juries" percentage.
In other words, a person can have a 100% chance of serving on juries, but hardly ever be here to be called. On the other hand, a person could be here 24/7, but have 0% chance of serving. You want to put on your Blacklist those who are high in both categories... remembering of course that the numbers change.
One thing to keep in mind -- a person who posts in a thread can't be on a jury for that thread, so your most likely jurors are those who very often do NOT post in the same threads that you do;
Lastly, don't forget to update it now and then.
It may sound like a PITA, but it will save you a lot trouble that you really don't deserve.
