What kind of US political pundit says that about a US state?

In what world is taking a couple days off from your campaign to say your good-byes to the grandmother who raised you some kind of faux pas, even if she were not dying in the US? What would people have thought of him if he had NOT gone to Hawaii. . And why is Hawaii more un American than a state where the law is the French Civil Code and "Laissez les bons temps rouler" is practically the state motto?

Either she was taking a right wing pot shot or she not too savvy. Oh, who am I kidding? It's not either or.

Another one born on third base who looked around and assumed she got there because she hit a triple.
