Recall that Obama selected a private prison consultant to run it, against the protests of the Alliance for Justice, Human Rights Defense Center, Private Corrections Working Group, Grassroots Leadership, National Lawyers Guild, International CURE, Detention Watch Network and Justice Policy Institute.
Under her corporate, revolving door "leadership," federal contracts for private prisons in the US have skyrocketed. Growing an industry that attaches a profit motive to the imprisonment of human beings is against everything this country should stand for.
