12. I followed this story on "Daily Banter" last week...

That was the web site he contacted with his claim that he stole the signs. The site asked for proof, and he sent pix from his smart phone. That's where I learned about "geotags".

I don't have such a device, preferring a real SLR camera, so I had no idea that the GPS info is included in the JPEG properties. I went to a pic my son took at his house with his iPhone and opened the shooting info in the EXIF property. There, along with the usual camera info, was all the GPS data and a button that said "Find In Google Maps", so I clicked it.

Suddenly, I was looking at a picture of my son's house in street view and a handy Google map of his neighborhood. Now I'm freaking out all my friends by sending them pictures they took of their kids with a screen grab of what their pic tells me about how to find them. hahaha

They sure are making hate crimes harder for people who have phones that are smarter than they are.
