It is best if people temper themselves rather than leave. We all end up more informed and enlightened.
I know that one about not suffering fools gladly! My solution is to not get angry, but to get determined and to call their foolishness out as such. I find that posting calmly point by point makes them flame out either by exploding and making it really obvious or by fizzling out when they are exposed as having nothing.
Of course most often I don't have the time or energy for point by point so I just pass over it, which seems to be the solution you have also arrived at.
