57. I've been on mixed forums before and it never really works out

because of the essential difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Democrats hate Republican policies that fatten the rich and beggar the workers.

Republicans hate Democrats.

It is impossible to discuss things rationally with most of them, they are too heavily invested in spite and meanness. I have seen real life jobs threatened. I have seen personal information posted at hacker sites in the hope of attracting identity thieves. Even though none of this is a danger to me these days, I simply refuse to give them another target.

At its best, Discussionist might be a honey trap that keeps trolls off DU so MIRT won't have to work too hard. As a discussion forum, it's living down to my low expectations.
