Dem candidate would get votes from almost all Dems, a huge number of Indies, and a sizable number of Repubs horrified by teabaggers. The Tea Party could win some Congressional districts, but few statewide and no presidential elections. Further, having two branches... teabagger and "reasonable"... of the Republican Party will lead to the brand being confused by voters. The more extreme the teabaggers drag the GOP... the less appealing it becomes. They are already hurting bad with young voters, minorities, and women.
