I can't remember which. I asked a group of college students from some Arabic student group who were set up on the student mall as to whether it was ok if I said "As-salamu Alaykum" to people in general or them in particular ( and similar peoples). I was informed by several it was quite ok and no one would be offend. I hope that still is true.
