(10,005 posts)The fact that Teabaggers have adopted this flag dating back to the American Revolution does not equate with the Confederate flag at all, which has been a long standing symbol of hatred and divisiveness. The baggers see themselves as American patriots, when in fact they are modern-day Tories, supporting policies that empower oligarchies and corporate interests over average citizens. The fact that conservatives in England have retained the Tory label is telling. During the American revolution, those who swore allegiance to the crown were also conservatives, intent on maintaining the status quo. Yes, these people are off by a full 180 degrees, and the three cornered hats and misappropriated use of historic banners do not offer them any redemption, merely delusion.
