In reply to the discussion: Brat's 23 yr. old campaign manager deleted/privatized his rant filled FB account [View all]WorseBeforeBetter
(11,441 posts)33. Ah, thanks for that explanation.
I lived in the NOVA blue bubble and didn't pay much attention to parts south. What do you think of this comment from the WaPo?
Just a Sunday drive in the country north of Richmond will verify the look of this map: every other yard is festooned with an angry yellow Tea Party banners. But so far there is too little discussion, much less any journalistic reporting, about the sizeable, indeed affluent, immigrant community in Henrico County, in particular Indian and Hispanic populations clustered around Richmond. It would be a mistake to assume that they are not sufficiently positioned within the business community to tip the November election. When Larry Sabato remarked last night on MSNBC that Cantor had stepped on toes, he was insinuating, I believe, Hispanic and Indian consituents that used to belong to Eric Cantor. If the Democratic machine gets behind Brat's challenger, allows this unknown socioligist to stump for and on the hard questions -- 1) immigration reform; 2) gun control; 3) and student loan reform, -- Cantor's former immigrant followers may come crawling out of the workwork to vote Brat down and put a Democrat in Cantor's seat. The thing is wide open right now. I wish someone at the Post would widen the reporting by talking with CASA, who booed Cantor at his press conferences, and get a sense of their numbers and the outreach potential of this grass roots organization; and talk as well with the Hispanic continuency at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. Let's walk around the elephant and consider the whole beast before we make conclusions about Brat's upset by looking up the elephant's nose.
