In reply to the discussion: the Hillary bible controversy is trumped up [View all]Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)Where we could have had a strong advocate for civil rights and justice, instead we had a person 'influenced' by a select handful of verses which tell her to hold a bigoted attitude while she freely skips over long passages in that same book which say things like 'women should be silent and never usurp authority over men'. It seems it has influenced how she judges others, but has had scant influence on how she lives her own life. 'This part here, which says you are inferior? That's the Word of God, Unalterable. This next part that says I am an offense to nature for having a huge job while being a woman? That's dated historical material no longer applicable to today's world.'
I'm just sick of it. I'm tired of a politics that alienates millions for some cheap self serving rhetoric that is simply not backed up by the personal behavior of the speaker. It's not just Hillary, but she is guilty of this. They edit that book into a love song to their own egos, then throw the remainder at the little people. 'God does not approve of YOU!'.
Sick of it. Find another song to sing.
