that appears to have far more power than the elected officials that tremble before them.

I still don't get how it is legal for them to right laws as stenographers of the Kochs and have it passed into law. Only elected people should be allowed to write our laws, rubber stamping stuff written by the private sector really needs to become illegal, somehow.
Unfortunately I don't think it will be made illegal because ALEC would never write such a law for their elected employees in government to pass for them.
