(13,992 posts)I've been living in a male skin for quite some time now, and you probably wouldn't be surprised to learn that guys talk differently when there are only other guys around. And I've never heard someone -- other than some really spooky hateful types -- refer to all women by the c-word. The b-word? Far more common. In my experience, the c-word tends to be loaded with some genuine animosity toward a specific individual -- like an ex-wife or something.
I'm not denying your experience, though. Clearly you've been exposed to the language in ways that I have not. As was said in a post or two upthread, maybe it's the power (and the aggression) that comes with the word that causes it to be used. It's used as an assertion of dominance in situations were the person using can't actually BE dominant.
