(21,632 posts)Whites, more often than not, are in situations where the power differential is in their favor. The same is true for men. The same is true for Christians. The same is true with straights. We could certainly come up with long lists if we spent the time and energy to do so.
Regardless, power differentials exist everywhere. Who has the power changes in different situations.
In any case, power differentials, class dynamics, and oppression seems to be a rather odd argument to bring to the table when determine appropriateness of genitalia insults. It's a pretty silly argument to have at all, quite frankly. If we have to have it at all, can we please dispense with the hyperbole and baseless controversy, and simply pick obvious reasons?
Here are a few we can start with:
1> People don't like hearing other being called genitalia-based names.
2> Genitalia-based names imply negative stereotypes.
3> There are so many more specific more insulting things to call people.
Now that the obvious has been stated, I hope we're done here.
