but if the victim had a Florida Concealed Weapon permit and a concealed handgun, he might not be in the hospital today.

In fact in Florida a person can carry a loaded handgun in his car without a license. It has to be securely encased, therefore the victim could have had a handgun in his glove box or console. He might have been able to grab his car gun and defend himself.

Most likely if he would have shown the young thugs that he was armed, they would have ran. However it is possible that he would have been charged with brandishing a firearm if the thugs called the cops before he did.

But firearms are not for everybody. I've always thought that pepper spray was an excellent item to carry for self defense. It has limitations but it is non lethal. I went looking for a link to show an example of a good pepper spray and I ran across what looks like an excellent pepper spray device called the Tornado.
