17 dogs found dead at Gilbert (AZ) boarding home [View all]
This is all over the news here in the Phoenix area. Apparently, the owners at the boarding facility planned to bury the dead dogs and tell the owners that they had run off. A friend of mine is involved - a family member's dog was one of those found dead. She said Jeff Flake's son was in charge of the dogs. There is a suspicion that the dogs were drugged and all put into a shed overnight. I can't imagine what I'd do if it were my dogs. It's truly an outrage!
17 dogs found dead at Gilbert boarding home
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office discovered 17 dogs were killed Thursday night. Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said Hughes wasn't home at the time of this incident. Instead, Hughes had other family members checking on the animals.
"One of the dogs chewed through an air conditioning wire overnight," Hegstrom said. "When the [Hughes family] checked on the dogs the next morning, many were already dead."
Hegstrom said there was a total of 28 dogs in the home. More than half of them died in a hot room.
