11. For what it's worth

I've shared the posts on this, mostly last fall, when my county commishes were spearheading the drive for this part of Colorado to secede. Many of their "concerns" were echoed by remarks by NC republicans. Many of us were pointing out that what NC was doing was the only possible outcome of what the commishes wanted. We'd ask people if they wanted to live in a place that acted like NC; nine times out of ten they weren't familiar with your struggles, so we'd enlighten them. And sharing your story gained us some voices here, and they stood in the cold with us and held signs and handed out lit to those attending a forum on secession (you may have caught a glimpse of us and our signs, CBS Sunday Morning covered the event).

Anyway, my heartfelt apologies for not letting you know that sharing your struggle has made a difference. It's when we keep silent that the awfulness wins. And I'll try harder to say 'thank you' more often. Starting now.
