I see Sheriff Arpaio as Otto in "A Fish Called Wanda," who hears someone behind him cock a gun and yell "Freeze!" He turns around apprehensively to see it's Archie. He relaxes and says, "Oh, it's you. I was worried for a moment there." Sheriff Arpaio knows that this particular incarnation of the Department of Justice is far more adept at rousting medical marijuana dispensaries than prosecuting actual crime. He knows the war criminals from the previous administration are still walking around free, writing books and collecting honoraria on the lecture circuit. As for the captains of industry who drove the country's economy off a cliff during the 2000s, they all have jobs in the current administration. Arpaio could be forgiven for thinking this is the prelude to becoming head of the FBI.
