propaganda of hope in the new US, so they just don't give a fuck. ... exactly as you say IMO ... "They either tune out and don't engage or they become easy victims to the republicans NEVER ENDING stream of ways to engender a sense of victimization to people's indulgences, like in this situation."

I've engaged polite and interesting conversations, for example, with some individuals in chain stores where they work, where they are dumped on constantly. They really don't get what is going on, even in their own workplace, and even more, they don't seem to give a fuck, they have just tuned out and written the future off. Then some others are just absolute robots, parroting Fox News ... apparently had a Fox News brain transplant, robots spewing out reactionary parroted Fox News crap.
