In reply to the discussion: A Thread to Appraise and Appreciate Mythological People [View all]kentauros
(29,414 posts)8. We often consider our furbabies as "part of the family"
Seems like that designation could make them "people."
Plus, beings such as mermaids, sphynxes, centaurs, satyrs, fauns, selkies, sirens, and all the others I can't remember, are whole beings, not half human and half whatever animal their bodies seem to include. Yet, they can interact with whole humans due to having some of their whole bodies in human form.
In other words, most people don't say "She's half human and half fish," instead saying, simply, "She's a mermaid." Yet, people continue to say "half human, half horse" or "half goat" when referencing other similar whole beings.
It's discrimination!

Prometheus, if it wasn't for him stealing fire from heaven, we would all be freezing our asses off.
