(58,176 posts)on these topics is that the person who wants it shushed simply doesn't want to be made uncomfortable. Which is monstrously selfish.
That poster kept saying, "If she had gone through channels, we wouldn't have THIS." I still don't know what "this" he was referring to. What "this" would be worse than having people unknowingly interact with a man who was leveling rape threats?
Yes, Cali did EXACTLY the right thing. In some posts around this issue, people are saying that they do not always report when they receive threatening PM's. THAT is the "this" we should be afraid of.
I think it is safe to ignore those whose knee-jerk reaction is to say, "Shut up about this." As you point out, they are angered by the victim and there is nothing the victim could do that they would deem appropriate or correct.
