Would it be more appropriate to have shown the program yesterday? or tomorrow? Or is fiction relating to the moon landing inappropriate at all times?

No, it is NOT a modern spelling of SciFi. it is a trademarked, made-up spelling.

The Syfy channel is Science Fiction. If you want to *learn* stuff, try The Learning Channel (TLC).
