researched why people go into bankruptcy, discovered a reality she had not recognized and became a liberal Democrat on economic issues.

It's the economy that is the biggest problem now.

Race, gender, all the other issues that plague us are related and engendered by the extreme economic inequality.

Slavery was about economic inequality. That's pretty obvious.

Segregation was about economic inequality. Separate schools for African-American children meant that they would not be able to compete in the white economy.

Even abortion is about economic inequality.

And when I speak about economic inequality, I do not mean to suggest that our economy should require or foster absolute equality. I am talking about evening the playing field for those who have the ability, the willingness to work hard and the character to achieve a better life. That's what I mean by equality. I mean removing the impediments for those who want to improve their lives and lessening the advantage that the well-born, the wealthy and well connected have from birth. Elizabeth Warren's ideas will achieve that goal without risking the destruction of our society or economy in my opinion.
