family tree research in NE IA I ran into family members who were to a limited extent involved with the KKK. My father and his cousin remembered attending a KKK picnic with their parents. I was very curious about who they were supposed to hate because our area of that state was very white.

In listening to the stories I found out that it was Catholics that we were supposed to hate and what was really surprising was that one of my classmates was equally interested but he was a Catholic and his parents told him they were against the protestants. All the KKK needs is someone to use to get your money! My mother told me that many people joined due to duress - being forced to join.

My guess is that the KKK now wants to turn black people against other newer minorities and keep their hate group going one way or another.
