33. That's another part of the Myth of Israel...that plucky little nation against all those Arabs.

The nation of Palestine didn't become a country because Great Britain was planning to put the Jewish Problem there, assuming that the Palestinians would be treated as citizens. The only reason for the separation and the creation of Israel was terrorism and retailiation....and most of the terrorism was Jewish. They felt, and it seems correctly, that if they showed that Arab and Jews couldn't live together, the international community would give Palestine to the Jews, regardless of the Arab population.

The wars since have been simply to remove the Palestinians from more territory. I suspect that the next move will be to annex the West Bank in its entirety, and create a truly apartheid state.
