(33,982 posts)I only mentioned the number of doors as in, it's a full-sized truck. (For comparison)
Our Tracker has over 200k, and gets much better mileage than that. Not sure what the mileage has to do with it.
For comparison, over a 200k mile lifespan, my truck will consume about 8,695 gallons of fuel. Your car, about 11,111 gallons. (how wierd is that?)
That's $35,649 versus $45,555 worth of fuel at today's prices (low octane). You can get a new car for the difference, like a nissan versa, and get 27/36.
And that comparison was against a truck. For a truck, I would characterize it as pretty good on fuel, but as a vehicle, all around, 23 is pretty bad. An all wheel drive all the time subaru will hit that, no problem, and that's a highly inefficient powertrain. My car gets about 38. That's pretty good, especially for a non-hybrid.
Questions of whether it is paid off, or how many miles it has lasted, etc, are all immaterial to the poster you were responding to, as he objected only to the characterization of your car as being pretty good on gas.
