you can buy vacuum tubes all over the place because of the demand from guitarists, and some hifi nuts. they're still extremely popular due to the explosion of small and boutique tube guitar amp sales. Tube amps are still highly regarded as sounding way better than their solid state counterparts, and there are scientific reasons why; second- and third-order harmonics created by the tubes. The old vintage stuff sells for big $$$ on eBay.

I guess that's a geeky way of saying there is still a lot of demand for analog parts like tubes, capacitors, etc.
