(57,760 posts)I think it would be helpful if we moved beyond arguing about Obama to focusing on issues and what we can do about them, much as you did in your OP about how to pressure the government to act on prosecuting torturers. Ultimately, what people think about Obama really isn't as important as what WE all can do to make a difference. Obama is not running for election again, but we all continue to live in this country and world. What I find most frustrating is that many seem to want to wait for a President, either this or the next, to give them what they want. That is an exercise in futility. Politicians will not act in meaningful ways without relentless pressure from below, when they are left with no other choice. If we could focus on the issues we want to do something about, I think that would be far more productive than arguing endlessly about a man who will only be in office two more years.
