13. Conservation ethic

Not just the soil we're preserving - we're working to save a whole mountain range! And the Big Lake!

The Penokee Hills are at the headwaters of Lake Superior, upstream from the Bad River Ojibwe Reservation in northern Wisconsin, and some other pretty special places. Corporate polluters bought our state legislature, rolled back environmental protections, and now they're pushing for a mountaintop removal iron mine that puts our whole watershed at risk.

Sean Duffy is in favor of it, and I'm opposed. They're already pouring in money to local races, and I can bet it'll be in play here, too. I'm a Sierra Club endorsed candidate and the Koch bros are 2 of his top 5 funders. But their big money saturation is already backfiring in rural WI. We don't like big-money making decisions for us, and we're motivated to do something about it.
