found out his daughter was dating a biracial young man and went over there to "defend his honor" by killing them both (since he also fired two or three shots at his daughter as she hid behind a rosebush). Apparently he also fired a couple of shots at the victim's 13-year-old brother, who was sitting on the stoop in front of the house:

According to jail records, Lake was walking with the Keplers’ daughter when they were confronted by a man driving a black 2007 Suburban. The daughter told police she recognized the SUV as her father’s so she walked over and spoke to him. She told police her father asked what she was doing in that area and she walked away. This second excerpt is from a different article. It was posted by one of the commenters on the bossip.com site. I wonder why most of the reports about this incident are glossing over the possible (perhaps probable) racial motive behind the murder.
