39. Who don't share my "world view" that torture is wrong? Who consider torturers "patriots"?

That's quite an accusation you just made. That takes some serious gall, to assume that another human being's opposition to TORTURE is merely a rhetorical tactic, a bludgeon in a political sparring match.

Well, you're wrong. Deeply wrong.

The vile spectacle of an American president minimizing torture as policy and hailing its perpetrators as "patriots" is not a political game to me or, I daresay, to the hundreds of other DUers who are expressing outrage. Trashing basic moral principles of our nation is not a rhetorical game.

But this isn't the first time I've seen that accusation hurled at DUers who dare to criticize policies and political behavior they find morally indefensible.

I suppose people often make false assumptions about others based on their own experience and moral worldview. It's difficult for me to fathom that human beings can choose to spend time deriding others for standing opposed to the government torture of human beings. I suppose it's difficult for at least a small few to fathom that human beings can genuinely care about these things, or that comments made on a discussion board could ever reflect more than cynical political gamesmanship.
