If it was too much bother to take her other kids to the car to change the diaper, wasn't it going to be too much trouble to take them all to the bathroom with her to change it?

How on earth did babies of my era get changed without public changing tables? Were parents back then magic? Did babies not crap? Or did people figure out a way that wasn't revolting and a threat to public health and safety?
