31. On the gas prices / economy point ... try this ...

Create a graph that begins in Dec 2007 ... then plot the following month by month.

1) Average National gas price
2) DOW Jones Industrial Average
3) Unemployment rate
4) Official Private sector job gains / losses

What you will find is that 1 and 2 move in synch. When the DOW fell, so did bass prices, the DOW is now UP, and so are gas prices.

The UE went from increasing through most of 2009, to decreasing since then.

And #4 has ben positive for the same period.

The GOP has latched on to gas prices because he trend looks bad, but that trend only looks bad because gas had fallen during the recession. Gas prices are now, back to about what they were before the recession.
