46. Police are not drill sergants. They aren't hired to "educate" us to survive war as an unit.

The job of the police is not to indoctrinate the public, or to intimidate, or anything else. The job of the police is to maintain the peace fairly for everyone and, when necessary, be the active representative or "arm" of the law. The Constitutionally ratified, agreed upon, Secular law that applies to everyone, not just some laws or "cultural practices" assumed by a majority, nor "the law" as imagined by people who get themselves into a position of power.
Police should not be para-military; that's what locally accredited militias or the National Guard are supposed to be - and even then, there are strict laws when it comes to military action. Most community SWAT teams would not be in compliance with the UCMJ, which is "the law" when it comes to military activity. And even the military is supposed to act in subordination to civilian law.

This confusion of actual job requirements for community policing has gone on way too long.
