101. Officers of the Peace. I remember actually calling them peace officers.

And they were. No military hardware or tactic needed. And a lot of cops still do just that. We are looking at an exemplary one right now taking over and trying to make sure nobody dies from violence. No doubt also to find out exactly how bad that PD is, since they work together.
