In reply to the discussion: I'm calling Bullshit on the "Robbery" story and here is why... [View all]jberryhill
(62,444 posts)7. "original reports described this as a "Jaywalking" incident"
The original police report, or the report of Brown's companion?
The robbery is irrelevant to the officer's use of lethal force, but there are several possibilities:
1. Mr. Johnson's account is correct.
2. Mr. Johnson's account is incorrect, because Mr. Johnson did not want to make an incriminating statement.
3. Mr. Johnson's account is correct, and Mr. Johnson was was unaware of the robbery.
4. Mr. Johnson's account is correct, and the police officer was unaware of the robbery.
3 and 4 overlap, and there are a number of other possible combinations of events.
However, as the original report you cite is based entirely on Mr. Johnson's account, then are you saying that if Mr. Johnson had known or been present at the robbery, then would you have expected him to include that fact in his account of the event?
