Whether or not he participated in the robbery or brown acted in that store on his own in grabbing cigars (and I haven't seen proof either way), the fact he's Brown's friend affects his credibility as regards witness bias. However, there are other percipient witnesses with no connection to Brown who corroborate the story in detail.
Moreover, you're assuming a robbery, shoplifting or whatever occurred. No one has committed a robbery until a jury has DECIDED robbery has occurred following trial. We don't have trial by media in this country and we can't be sure what happened in that convenience store. Maybe Brown paid for the cigars and had an argument over something else, or even the store owner owed him the cigars, no matter how sure we are from looking at a few seconds of silent video. If the DA wants to raise the issue of the witness's credibility by introducing evidence of priors to impeach his trial testimony, they will have to charge and try him first, something DA's have been known to do. Short of that and if the convenience store owner won't testify, the video will likely be excluded at trial otherwise.
