When the kids here have their friends--of all colors--over to play basketball or just hang out, I hear them joking around. Ragging on each other, getting what I call 'puffed up' like young boys do to show off for each other. I know it for what it is, but as you say someone else might think 'thugs' or 'gangsters' etc.

I'm sitting by the window and just after I posted above, watched one of the boys get into his car and drive off. I know what a great kid he is, but all it will take is him being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or making an innocent smart ass remark to the wrong person for a disaster to happen because too many people are still racist or only see stereotypes.
